dev meeting a cccongress

Hi,

I was+am thinking we should do a frab developer meeting at the cccongress,
with audio+video feeds in+out, so that also people who will not make it to the
29C3 can attend.

What do you think? If you like the idea, I can work on getting a suitable
location and some fixed time+date...

Maybe we can also have a hacking session there, to implement the beginnings of
a video controller?! (I was previously hoping I could go to Cologne this year
for a weekend^wgeekend, but don't think this is realistic anymore. But maybe
next year... I suppose you people are still interesing in a Debian
backporting/packaging workshop as well?)

cheers,
	Holger

Yes, please :) I'd love to see something happening at the 29c3.

Btw, I'm currently working on the pentabarf import feature.

Since I'm already organizing/attending the c4 assembly, I'd be happy to
offer space to everybody who wants to work on frab.
As soon as my account works, I'm going to add a project for 'conference
software' related doings.

Well, it's coming along nicely. I can already import people and
accounts. Next up: events.
Had some funny problems: tiff images, corrupt images (damn you
paperclip), 5 year conferences with one event day every year, unicode
chars in the conference acronym...

The mapping from pentabarf roles to frab roles worked nicely. Still
untested though..
And pentabarf distinguishes users by login name, not by email. So I'm
currently only importing the first account for any given email. That
should work out fine, as accounts have no influence on the schedule. The
schedule, the events, the speakers and the feedback are the most
important parts, as far as I am concerned.

Also I'm trying to write (some) documentation on the whole pentabarf to
frab migration as I code along.

uh, and frab uses email addresses? People change them all the time!?!

Uhm well we could do a little rundown of the changes we did. Maybe a small
ditty about using capistrano to deploy it...

He,

Are you at 29c3? I'd be interested in adding chef recipes to frab :)

Hmmm no. Not the same as capistrano. But still interesting. Basically,
provide access to MySQL, access to Redis, provide Ruby of the correct
version then do cap deploy and that should be it...

Uhm I added capistrano scripts for a couple of things... is that the same?
